Bergamot essential oil was named after the city of Bergamo in Lombardo, Italy and it comes from a juicy citrus fruit that is defined as the “hybrid” of a sour orange and lemon / lime.

is also one of the most widely researched for its effects on mood. It is shown to decrease nervous tension, stress, and anxiety through its ability to reduce the corticosterone response to stress. It is also anti-depressive, emotionally uplifting, and “mood-balancing” in that it stimulates our ‘feel good’ hormones such as dopamine and serotonin. Known for its “refreshing properties,” it slightly reduces blood pressure and heart rate.
