Best Essential Oils for Stress Relief and Meditation

With so much going on in our world today like COVID-19 on the rise and fluctuating stock markets, let alone trying to take care of ourselves and our loved ones and whatever we typically do on a daily basis, it’s no wonder you may be feeling anxious and ungrounded at this moment in time. I’m here to tell you that no matter how out of control the world feels around you, you always have the power to manage your response to your circumstances.

Staying empowered in the most seemingly hopeless moments means that we must lean, more than ever, into our self-care. It means we rely on our products and practice with full surrender to boost us up and keep us focused, aligned, and at peace. One of my favorite practices that keeps me centered, and a great way to get back into the driver’s seat of your life, is through meditation. Meditation may seem scary, but it’s really just making a conscious effort to connect with yourself in the present moment.

There are so many ways to practice meditation, and essential oils can enhance all of them! But, not all essential oils are created equal when it comes to self-soothing practices like meditation. A lot of them actually hype us up for the day, energize us, and aid us in focusing on tasks at hand. Below, we have listed out the best essential oils to ease your way into a transformative and relaxing meditation practice. These oils can even help improve your breathing techniques.

Drop a few of these oils onto your palms, rub your palms together, and bring towards your face. Take a deep inhale, and breathe in the soothing and supportive aromas. Take 10 minutes to sit and breathe and connect with yourself.

Rose Oil

Ah, our beloved Rose Oil. Not only does it smell incredible, it is also the ideal relaxation essential oil to soothe anxiety, relieve depression, and heal your heart. According to Forbes, the Iranian Journal of Nursing and Midwifery Research published a study showing that postpartum women who received a 15-minute aromatherapy session with lavender and rose were less likely to report symptoms of postnatal depression or general anxiety disorder.

A few drops of our Indulge Mood Oil ft Rose and Cardamom on your wrists or temples before meditation will help you give yourself over fully to your self-care and let the bad vibes go.

Lavender Oil

This one is a given - but needs to be stated! Lavender is going to always be that scent where you smell a hint of it and you are instantly relaxed. The impact of lavender on the central nervous system has been well-researched and used for thousands of years. Studies show that lavender oil can alleviate symptoms associated with anxiety and depression, while also helping treat migraines. It relaxes brain waves, reduces cortisol levels and supports the immune system.

A few sprays of our Brighten Mood Mist featuring Lavender and Citrus above your head and face helps release stress and anxiety and uplift your mood. Not to mention, it also boosts your immunity!

Eucalyptus Oil

A few deep breaths of Eucalyptus oil and you are instantly refreshed. Chemically speaking, it serves as a purifier and cleanser, and this is how it supports us emotionally. It clarifies your mindset, releases negative thinking, and supports peaceful, easy breathing. When inhaled, it also gives you an immune-boost. And when applied to an inflamed area, it releases tension and soothes pain.

Cedarwood Oil

The ultimate protector against negative energy for its grounding, soothing, and sedative effects on the mind and body. Cedarwood encourages you to focus inward so you can create a better, stronger you. Its invigorating quality is known to improve cerebral activity, while its calming property is known to relax the body, and the combination of these properties helps to enhance concentration while decreasing hyperactivity. The soothing scent of Cedarwood Essential Oil is reputed to reduce harmful stress and ease tension, which in turn promotes the body’s rest, helps to clear the mind, and subsequently encourages the onset of quality sleep that is both restorative and reparative.

Try Cedarwood Oil in our Tranquil Mood Oil, a soothing natural fragrance oil to carry in your pocket for self-care on the go. Roll onto the wrists and temples for relaxation and stress relief.

Ylang Ylang Oil

Ylang Ylang gives you the ability to release negative emotions like hostility, anger, frustration, and even nervousness. In doing so, it helps bring a balanced and more at peace within. In research, it has been shown to reduce the body’s stress response as well as lower cortisol levels and blood pressure. It has become popular around the world for its ability to promote relaxation by easing the symptoms and effects of anxiety and harmful stress.
