11 years ago this month, I was in the midst of the most intense experience of my life, which was the start of my therapeutic journey.  I was 16 years old and had been living in an outdoor wilderness therapy program in the wintery BlueRidge Mountains from March - May.  My only possessions were a backpack, tarps, a sleeping bag, clothing, food, and a journal; the point being to remove all distractions so I could connect more honestly with myself.  After 9 1/2 weeks, I was brought to an “Emotional Growth Boarding School” in Southern Virginia. Let's Embrace the Essence Of "Motherhood"

Sometimes our relationships with our moms aren't always Rose-y, and there's no shame in that.  But "motherhood" is also a state of being that we can foster within ourselves.  We can nurture our "mother within."  This Mother's Day, let's celebrate the essence of motherhood by cultivating these mother-like qualities. MY TOP 3 TIPS TO EMBRACE MOTHERHOOD 1) Practice a "Lovingkindness" Meditation: The essence of "motherhood" when embodied in its purest and truest form is unconditional love, acceptance, compassion, and kindness. To practice a Lovingkindness Meditation, we can extend this heartfelt sentiment towards ourselves and others: Find a comfortable position to sit for at least 10 minutes.  Close your eyes, place both hands on your heart and repeat:"May I be free from inner and outer harm and danger....
